Beautiful, remote beaches, dazzling waters and an unforgettable kayak adventure await you in the US Virgin Islands. Whether you're paddling atop turquoise swell or checking in on the turtles, tropical fish and rays beneath the surface, St. Thomas and St. John are veritable paradises that will make a water lover’s soul swell.
You’ll get a taste of everything as we circumnavigate two Caribbean treasures. This isn’t a big box cruise ship journey, we’ll get our fill of life around town, but, since we’re traveling by kayak, we’ll also get to explore the remote bays and beaches that hardly any island visitors get to see.
Day 1 - The trip officially begins at Cyril E. King Airport on St. Thomas. After meeting you in Arrivals, your Northwest Passage guides will shuttle you to the evening’s accommodations on the island’s Northside. After settling in we’ll gather for welcome drinks to discuss the week’s itinerary and answer any questions you may have. (D)
Day 2 - After breakfast, your Northwest Passage guides will outfit you with paddling gear and we’ll begin paddling the St. Thomas coastline. After departing the sheltered waters of Magens Bay, we’ll head west to Santa Maria Bay beach and typically get a nice push from the prevailing easterly trade winds. We continue on to St. Thomas’ West End and stretch our legs on one of the several gorgeous, remote beaches. Next, we’ll round the western cape and paddle the southern shoreline to Fortuna Bay. (B, D)
Day 3 - Today we cruise past the South End by way of Water Island. We’ll paddle past many diminutive beaches and have an opportunity to explore a mangrove lagoon on our way to the East End’s Great Bay. (B, D)
Day 4 - We depart St. Thomas’ East End and cross the three mile channel to the western shores of St. John. After stretching our legs on a Cruz Bay beach, we’ll continue along the southern shoreline and paddle through some of the island’s vast national park territory. Our home for the night is along the eastern end of St. John. (B, D)
Day 5 - We’ll take a break from our circumnavigation pushes and enjoy a layover day in St. John’s Coral Bay region. Activity options abound including snorkeling, exploring the East End’s many remote bays by kayak and walking any number of the outstanding hiking trails in the national park. More passive / recovery focused options include recuperating on any of the great area beaches and sampling the local fare in Coral Bay. (B)
Day 6 - Continuing our circumnavigation of St. John, we round the East End and paddle through protected national park waters to Cinnamon Bay. Tonight is our final night on St. John. (B, D)
Day 7 - Today we complete our circumnavigation of St. John as well as St. Thomas. After paddling to the north end of St. John's Cruz Bay we’ll cross the channel back to St. Thomas and make our way along the north coast back to Magens Bay where our kayak journey began. (B, D)
Day 8 - After our final breakfast on lovely St. Thomas, your Northwest Passage guides will shuttle you to the airport. (B)

Petroglyphs and artifacts found at Cinnamon Bay indicate a Taíno presence on Saint John from about 700 to the late 1400s.
